Electric cellist Joanna Quail is the core of London-based instrumental group SonVer. SonVer formed in 2003 as Joanna and guitarist Ben McLees wrote and recorded 'Until The Stones Melt', an epic track which would form the template for SonVer's cinematic, emotive soundscapes. Joanna has worked with many outstanding musicians in SonVer's history, and as a band
SonVer have performed at major UK and European festivals including WGT Leipzig and Bath Film Festival. Jo has undertaken various solo tours to promote the music of SonVer, most recently in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. SonVer, whether performed on solo cello or with a full band, presents a complex path from meditative ambience to dark brooding urgency; live looping and layers combine atonality with rich orchestration, deft percussion and several unusual instruments often added to create the majestic soundscapes.
