Is Shinto Records more of an Industrial label or Goth label?

Neither, we are more interested in creative music, not so much what will sell, what is safe or what sounds like most bands out today. We are more interested in the art of music, most of it does fall in the realm of the goth and industrial genres, but we also work with many experimental artists that can not be classified.

I’m in a band/I run a label, how do I get Shinto to carry my release and promote it?

The best thing to do would be to listen to the artists here on our website, if it sounds like you would fit in with what we are doing go to the DISTRIBUTION page, download or print out the invoice and take the steps to send your discs.

I run a Radio Station/Magazine/Club can I receive Shinto Records Promos?

Yes, please go to the PROMO page for more info

How do I get signed to Shinto?

Because of how we work our budget is very small, and we are also very selective on the artists that we sign. You are welcome to send a CD or link to Reverbnation or your website where we can hear some work. If we are interested we will reply with some information and questions. We do try to reply to every email, but sometimes they can be overwhelming.

Do you pay your bands?

Yes! We are a firm believer in paying bands, and in general we pay bands the same, if not more than the label is paid itself. We know it is backwards, but we like to treat artists well.

Do you own the rights to the music?

We only own 50% of the copyright for a certain time period, again we believe in treating artists well, we leave the bad treatment up to other labels.

I’m a visual artist, how can I get my work on your releases?

The artists we work with take care of the graphics themselves, you can contact bands to see if they would be interested. Compilation artwork is taken care of by a few members of the Shinto Family.

Are you interested in Metal?

No, it is not really our thing, sorry.
